Two Depressions Could Form This Week
Two tropical depressions could form this week or this weekend over the Atlantic.
On the left, a disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms is moving west at 20 mph. This motion will continue for a couple of days, which will limit development (too fast). However, after that time, it will move more slowly over the Caribbean and development of a tropical depression is possible.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) gives it a 60% chance of doing so.
On the right of the satellite image, a "concentrated area of showers" continues, the NHC says. Environmental conditions are favorable for development, and a tropical depression should form over the next couple days.
The first one to reach tropical storm status would be called Laura. The second, if it happens, would be called Marco.
While long range predictions can be way off, a few forecasts models indicate that at least one of these two could become a strong storm, and possibly impact land. Obviously, we will have to wait and see.
