Tropical Depression 11 Forms Over Open Waters
Tropical Depression #11 formed just a couple hours ago, located 1,450 miles east of the Lesser Antilles or about 1,110 miles WSW of the Cabo Verde Islands.
It likely will pass just north of the Northern Leeward Islands. However, weather conditions are expected to get less favorable Thursday and hostile towards the weekend, leading to the system weakening. It could become a post tropical cyclone by or over the weekend.
Sustained winds are at 35 mph now, but strengthening should begin by tomorrow and 11 is expected to become a tropical storm by sometime Wednesday night. It would be called Josephine.
It is expected to move westward through the next 48 hours before turning to the west-northwest and northwest.
