Update: Depression Becomes Record-Tieing Zeta

Tropical Depression 28 strengthened overnight into Tropical Storm Zeta, becoming the 27th named storm of 2020.

This ties the 2005 record for the most named storms in one year.

The forecast remains the same.
Zeta should gradually strengthen through the next 72 hours, and become a hurricane Monday night or early Tuesday.
Zeta is expected to pass near or just over the northeastern Yucatan Peninsula Monday night and then move north through the Gulf of Mexico. It will likely approach the northern Gulf coast as a tropical storm sometime in the Wednesday time frame.

"The global models remain in poor agreement on the details
of the timing", the National Hurricane Center said. The atmospheric conditions at play are known to be quite difficult to forecast, and part of it is out of range of the US upper-air monitoring system, further complicating things.
