Two Depressions Form This Week
Two tropical depressions should form by mid week, over the central and eastern tropical Atlantic.
On the left is an area of showers that has only a couple days for some gradual development before upper level winds become unfavorable. Development is therefore unlikely.
A tropical wave, the middle disturbance in the picture above, is producing disorganized showers. Gradual development is expected, and it should become a tropical depression in the next day or two.
On the right is another tropical wave that should emerge off the west coast of Africa today. Development thereafter is expected, and a tropical depression is likely to form by mid week.
If the disturbances reach tropical storm status, they would be called Paulette and Rene.
