Tropical Depressions 17 and 18 Form

Two tropical depressions formed overnight.

The first one is over open waters, and does not pose a threat to land. 

The depression should become a tropical storm today or tonight. 

The second depression will also become a tropical storm today or tonight. 

Whichever is first will be Paullete, and the second will be Rene. 

Pictured above is both 17 and 18.

18 will pass near or over the Cabo Verde Islands, and gusty winds and heavy rain are expected there. 

After that, it will also move over open waters, almost parallel to 17.

It could become a hurricane towards the end of the week.
