NHC: 'Together We Can Get Through Hurricane Season'
With a recent surge of activity as we enter the historically peak hurricane season, National Hurricane Center Director Ken Graham is urging everyone, especially those in hurricane prone areas, to remain vigilant.
"It's been a busy season already; there's been impacts all across the coastline."
There have been "major, major impacts" by Upper Texas and western Louisiana.
"I wanted to make a video to say we are at the busiest part of the season... I just urge everybody to realize, it's been busy already, we have a ways to go. This is the heart of the season" , Graham said in a recent video.
"Listen to those local officials, know where you are going to go if they tell you to evacuate. Have the supplies, have enough supplies for a week- water, medicine, food.
"Let's get through this season together.
It's been a busy season so far. We have a little ways to go as we enter the heart of the hurricane season.
And together we can be prepared, and together we can get through hurricane season 2020."
Recently, Tropical Storms Nana, Omar, Paulette, Rene and Sally have formed.
Paulette is currently a hurricane threatening Bermuda, and Sally is a tropical storm threatening the North-central Gulf coast.
Another storm or two could form as well, and we will likely compete the list of regular names. When that happens, we move on to the Greek alphabet (Alpha, Beta, etc).
