Short-Lived Omar Forms

Tropical Depression 15 has strengthened into Tropical Storm Omar, now located well off the North Carolina coast.
Winds are now at 40 mph, but the storm is encountering ever-strengthening wind shear.
The displacement of the showers from the center is shown in the above image, with shear direction indicated with an orange arrow.

Omar should begin to weaken by tomorrow and become a remnant low Thursday or Thursday night.

"This makes Omar the 15th
named storm of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season, and is the
earliest 15th storm on record, besting the previous mark by about
a week from Ophelia of 2005", The National Hurricane Center says.
