Beta Nearing Texas, Poses Flood Threat

5pm Update: Beta is moving near the Texas coast, and should move over the coastal areas through Tuesday, and then over the Gulf Wednesday before moving back inland.

Original post:

Beta is nearing Texas, and should ride along the coast through tomorrow, posing a flood threat.

The center is located 45 miles southeast of Port Occonnor, Texas.

Winds are at 45 mph. The exact track of Beta determines the intensity of this system.
The current thinking is that Beta should move along the coast (just offshore and/or just inland) through Tuesday and then over the Lower Mississippi Valley Wednesday and Thursday.

The slow motion of Beta is expected to cause several inches of rain from the central Texas coast to southeastern Louisiana.

2 to 5 inches of rain will spread across most of Alabama, Louisiana and Arkansas.

"Flash and urban flooding is likely, as well as isolated minor river flooding", the National Hurricane Center says.
Beta should become a depression on Tuesday and a post tropical cyclone on Wednesday or Thursday.
