Increasing Chances For Winter Storm Wednesday

    Confidence is increasing that we will receive several inches of snow. While this is still subject to change (especially with the way things do in Baltimore), it is now looking like the likely outcome.

National Weather Service

The National Weather Service is predicting 4-6" of snow in Baltimore. As mentioned in the past couple days, and shown in this and next graphics, there is a sharp gradient between lots of snow and very little snow (accumulations).

Again, things could change.

But the NWS is saying we have a near 100% chance of getting 2+ inches of snow accumulation, a 90% chance of 4 inches, but only a 40% chance of 6 inches. Their high-end prediction is 8 inches.

In the above image, you can see forecasted snow totals. Note how PA has 12-20 inches of snow, northern Maryland has 8 to 10 inches, and just 10 miles away, its near 0 inches.

Accuweather 

Accuweather is predicting 2-4 inches of snow as the most likely outcome. They say there is a:

62% chance of it being 2-4 inches

34% chance of it being 1-2 inches

2% chance of it being 4-8 inches

1% chance of it being <1 inch

1% chance of it being >8 inches

They say there will be a trace of ice due to freezing rain and sleet that freezes over.
