Wednesday, September 1: Heavy Rain and Strong Storms Today and Tonight
Today brings some very turbulent weather. We already got about an inch of rain last night.
An additional 1.5 to 2.5 inches will fall this afternoon into tonight. This could cause basements to flood and streets to fill with deep puddles.
A Flood Warning is in effect for some rivers and streams until 10:15 am thus morning.
The heavy rainfall will likely be in two or three rounds. The first will be 3-5pm, and then again 7:30 to 9:30 with a final burst possible closer to 11pm.
Torrential rainfall may make it very difficult to see when driving. Consider planning to do errands before the rains.
In addition to the rain, there is a threat of strong to severe winds. There is also a threat of a tornado. A Tornado Watch will likely be issued later this morning. That means conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes.
If a warning is issued, seek shelter on a lower away from windows.
Rain should end by midnight.
