Hurricane Update: Nicholas Expected To Dump Flooding Rains Along NW Gulf Coast

Tropical Storm Nicholas formed on Sunday, and as of 5am Monday, is 200 miles south of Port O'Connor, Texas.

Winds are near 60 mph, with strengthening expected today. Nicholas could be a hurricane when it moves onshore the mid to upper Texas coast this evening.

Extreme rainfall is anticipated, with 8 to 16 inches along the upper two-thirds of the Texas coast. Other areas of Texas and southwestern Louisiana will get 5 to 10 inches of rain.
