Hurricane Update: Nicholas Crawling Through Deep South
Nicholas is now a tropical depression with 30 mph. The depression is only moving at 3 mph, and this motion will continue today. Almost no movement is expected on Thursday.
While the circulation of Nicholas will dissipate late Thursday, rain will continue through the weekend as tropical moisture lingers.
At least a few inches of rain have fallen, and several more are expected in Texas and Louisiana.
There are two areas of development to watch. The first is over the far eastern Atlantic, not far from the Cabo Verde Islands. This area of showers and thunderstorms has been showing signs of organization, and given favorable atmospheric conditions, a tropical depression should form in the next day or two.
The second area is some showers and thunderstorms near Bermuda. Atmospheric conditions are pretty condice for development, and a tropical depression is likely to form late this week.
