Tuesday, August 31: Rain and Drizzle Ahead of Ida
Tropical Depression Ida is still over Mississippi, but it will accelerate today and tonight, moving through the Tennessee Valley.
Locally, we get some rain and drizzle this afternoon, with a more steady rain expected after 10pm late this evening, lasting until 6am.
Wednesday, Ida will be approaching, with some rain in the morning. The worst of the rain will be Wednesday evening and Wednesday night as Ida passes through.
Very heavy rainfall is increasingly likely in our area, with rain totals of 2 to 4 inches expected. The high-end amount would be 6 inches.
Basements may flood, and streets may get filled with deep puddles. Be careful when driving, particularly Wednesday night, when the heaviest rain is expected.
Some gusts to 40 mph are possible during this time.
It will be quite humid throughout this time.
The storm should clear out Thursday morning, leaving a cooler and breezy Thursday.
Temperatures will be near 75 Thursday and Friday, gradually increasing for Shabbos and Sunday.
