Thursday, August 11: Heat and Humidity Peak in Intensity
Thursday is the peak in the recent bout of hot weather, with highs near 98 and real feels approaching 110. The Excessive Heat Watch has been changed to a Heat Advisory, which is in effect from 12pm to 8pm for this dangerously hot weather. Once again, remember to drink plenty of water and avoid lengthy or strenuous activity outdoors. Cars can heat up to lethal temperatures within minutes - within 3 minutes, it can rise to 110 degrees (the temperature itself, not counting the sunshine or other factors that might make it feel worse). An air quality alert is in effect today as well. We will once again see a rise in cloud cover and some storms rumbling nearby or overhead.
Friday, it will reach near 95 with plenty of sunshine. Real feels will be near 105, and a Heat Advisory may be issued today for that. Shabbos will be about 5 degrees cooler, with a shower or two in the afternoon and evening.
A weather system will likely stall out nearby for Sunday into the middle of next week, which could bring a few days straight of showers. Temperatures will be closer to 80.
