Tropical Depression #31 Forms In Caribbean
The 31st tropical depression of the year has formed in the Caribbean Sea.
The depression is likely to only gradually develop through tonight into a tropical storm. It will be named Iota, continuing the record setting hurricane season this year.
Once the depression gets better organized by tomorrow, significant strengthening is expected, and Iota will be near or at hurricane strength when it approaches Central America on Monday.
Iota could move over Central America or just over water, which would effect the intensity. A more northward track would mean a stronger storm Tuesday/Wednesday.
Either way, very high winds and extreme rainfall is likely in places already reeling from Hurricane Eta. 6 to 10 inches of rain are possible.
Theta has 60 mph winds, and will likely become a post tropical cyclone Sunday.
