Incredibly Danderous Iota Approaching Central America
7pm Update: Iota's western eyewall is now moving into Nicaragua.
Maximum sustained winds are at 160 mph. Rapid weakening is expected once it moves inland, but not before catastrophic damage occurs.
In addition to the wind, storm surges of 15 to 20 feet will destroy the coastline.
Plus, there will be 10 to 20 inches of rain, with isolated totals of 25 inches!
National Hurricane Center Forecaster Blake sums it up:
"This is a catastrophic situation unfolding for northeastern Nicaragua with an extreme storm surge of 15-20 ft forecast along
with destructive winds and potentially 30 inches of rainfall, and
it is exacerbated by the fact that it should make landfall in almost the exact same location that category 4 Hurricane Eta did about two weeks ago."

A low pressure area is likely to form in the Caribbean in a few days, and subsequent development is possible.
A tropical depression could very well form in the favorable waters of the Caribbean this weekend.
