Friday, May 27: Potentially Stormy

Another humid day is ahead, which will help fuel potentially strong storms this afternoon into this evening.

Highs will be near 77 today, with several showers this afternoon, evening and tonight. There is a strong potential for storms to be strong to severe, with winds of 40 to 60 mph, this afternoon. 

The first round to be alert for is between 12pm and 2pm. Heavy rain and gusty winds are likely then. 

The government issued a Tornado Watch for much of western and central Maryland (among other places), which includes our area, and is in effect until 2pm. This means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop but does not guarantee a tornado will actually form. 

If a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is issued, that means strong winds could be a hazard in an oncoming storm. If a Tornado Warning is issued, then it is best to take shelter in a lower floor away from windows. 

One or two showers or thunderstorms are likely again between 4pm and 8pm. Heavy rain and gusty winds are again possible.

Additional showers are expected tonight, with heavy rain possible but not as likely.

Shabbos will be near 76 with a mix of sun and clouds. A brief shower is possible between 5pm and 7pm. 

Sunday will be near 81 and sunny, with Monday near 87. Tuesday will be near 91 and sunny. Wednesday will be near 89.
