Thursday, September 29: Breezy
Today features more cool weather, this time with a breeze. The remnants of Hurricane Ian will cross through Shabbos into next week.
Highs will be near 68 today, with mostly sunny skies. As has happened frequently this week, there will be an increase in clouds in the afternoon. Friday will be near 67, with mostly cloudy skies.
Ian, as of 5am Thursday morning, is located 40 miles southeast of Orlando, Florida. The tropical storm has winds of 65 mph, which extend about 400 miles from its center, covering most of the Florida Panhandle, southeastern Georgia and extreme southern South Carolina.
The tropical storm will be near or possibly at hurricane strength when it makes landfall in South Carolina later today. It will then weaken as it moves inland towards the Appalachians.
Rain is expected locally from its remnants, but flooding is unlikely. Rain will begin after 10pm late Friday evening, continuing off and on through Shabbos morning. A shower or two, and some drizzle, is likely Shabbos afternoon. Highs will be near 62 on Shabbos.
Sunday will be near 63, with scattered showers, especially after 1pm. Monday will be near 62, with a few showers throughout the day. Tuesday will be near 63 with a few showers possible, especially in the morning.
Wednesday will bring clearing skies and a high of 69.
